Cycle of Assessment for Student Learning Outcomes

Each year, all academic programs are asked to report on the assessment of student learning outcomes. Programs are not expected to assess every outcome every year, but they should choose a manageable number of outcomes to assess in any given year. Programs should plan to assess each of their student learning outcomes at least once within a five to seven year period, or the amount of time between the department's periodic comprehensive reviews. If results for an outcome do not meet established numeric criterion, the outcome should be assessed more frequently to determine the impact of any changes made by the program. The reporting cycles for academic programs run from August 1 to July 31 each year, but programs have until October 1 to make changes to reports in Xitracs.
