An assessment unit for administrative and educational support units is typically any unit with a box on one of Appalachian's current organizational charts. In some instances, a unit on the organizational chart chooses to separate into multiple assessment units if the unit head decides that is most helpful for planning and decision making. Academic departments and centers and institutes are also expected to report on the assessment of their operations on an annual basis.
